uLocate Communications, the provider of wireless location based services and the developer of MapQuest Find Me, is committed to protecting your privacy. We do not release any personally identifiable information about our members and visitors without their permission or except as set forth within this Privacy Policy or our Terms and Conditions Agreement.
uLocate contracts with other companies and individuals to perform functions required for successful delivery of the service. These firms may have access to your personal information as necessary to perform their functions. However, they do not have permission to share personal information with any third party.
uLocate encourages all third parties involved in providing our site and services - including but not limited to our branding and distribution partners - to adhere to our policies regarding the privacy of our users and to handle personal information in a responsible manner. However, we cannot and do not assume any responsibility for any actions or omissions of third parties, including the manner in which they use information.
Additionally, uLocate uses temporary session cookies that are active only when you are visiting the uLocate site. Among other features, these temporary cookies help to monitor the registration process and the application download process so you can easily complete uLocate installation.
When you register for your web account we will prompt you for an email address. This will enable us to contact you from time to time to notify you of service updates and enhancements. Except as set forth within this Privacy Policy and our Terms and Use and the Subscription Agreement, we will not share your email address with third parties without your express permission.
If you are a user of the MapQuest Find Me application, when you download MapQuest Find Me to your handset, you are billed directly through Nextel or their agents and your billing information is not shared with uLocate or MapQuest. Nextel or uLocate capture the general characteristics of your phone, such as firmware etc. to enable the application to function correctly. We also use your phone's MSISDN number to protect your security and authenticate information delivery.
You can change, edit or remove the personal information you have provided to uLocate. Your contact information such as email address can be changed by going to the account tab on your web account.
uLocate may access and disclose personal information in the event that uLocate believes in good faith that such action is reasonably necessary to comply with applicable laws and lawful government requests, to operate its systems properly, to protect itself, its users, or others, or to enforce this Privacy Policy, the Terms of Use and the Subscription Agreement. uLocate also reserves the right to transfer any information you provide on or via the site or through use of any uLocate service to uLocate's affiliates whether or not located in the United States and, with respect to the MapQuest Find me application to MapQuest.com, Inc. (in all cases, including transfer to any successor to or assignee of all or a substantial portion of the business or assets of uLocate or an affiliate of uLocate), as may be reasonably required for, or in connection with, providing services to you.
This Privacy Policy is the sole authorized statement of uLocate's practices with respect to the collection of personally identifiable information and the usage of such information. Any summaries of this Privacy Policy generated by third party software or otherwise (for example, in connection with the "Platform for Privacy Preferences" or "P3P") shall have no legal effect, are in no way binding upon uLocate, shall not be relied upon in substitute for this Privacy Policy, and neither supersede nor modify this Privacy Policy.
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes to this privacy policy in places we deem appropriate so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. If, however, we are going to use individually identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection we will notify users by posting a notice on our website for 30 days.
